treat myself?

Ok kids, since we are on the subject of my awful skin today we will have a follow up post. I have been debating on getting the Clarisonic Mia for some time but haven't ever REALLY convinced myself I needed it. However, in the last month my skin has gotten out of control. I have weird bumps and blackheads while parts of my face are really dry. I want to get this under control before Craig sees me, I don't want him to come back from under the sea and not see a pretty face, ya know?

What I need to know, is this little gadget really worth the money? For me that is ALOT of money to spend on a beauty product and I will dip into my J.Crew fund, I REALLY like their spring collection. I have read the reviews but you are my person (I have a thing for that line from grey's) and I trust you! Does anyone out there have sensitive skin and can let me know how it worked for them?!

p.s. can you use other cleansers with it or just the Clarisonic one?

  1. I love that you have a J Crew fund! Too cute! I have a friend that just got one of these ON SALE at Dillards (I think it's the southern version of Nordstrom)

  2. Yes, I have seen improvement already and have been using mine for only a week. Any gentle cleanser will do. Many recommend Cetaphil Mary D.

  3. Ok I know I am in the minority for sure because the Mia has such good reviews and I know a lot of people really like it.. but it did not work for me. I have sensitive/dry skin and it made my skin noticeably more dry and red. So, I went to a lady that does waxing, etc. in my hometown that I've always gone to and had her look at my skin. She asked what all products I was using and she is not a huge fan of the clarasonic because she feels that it spreads bacteria throughout your face. After she told me that I could kind of see where it might do that. Like I said, I know I am in the minority though!

    1. I bought mine at Sephora and was specifically told not to use an exfoliating type cleanser (one with grains in it) and was also told not to press the brush onto my face but to let it glide on the surface. Those can contribute to dryness and irritation. If you rinse it thoroughly with hot water after use (and even before use if you want to) as well as clean the brushes with soap and water weekly, there should be no more bacteria swishing about your skin than using your hands, a washcloth or a cleansing cloth.

  4. Olay has a product-- the Pro X, that is supposedly similar to the Clairsonic. I have not used either, but the Pro X is between $20 and $30, so it might be worth trying it first...

    1. I have tried both and the Clarisonic is noticeably more effective for me. Mary D.
