stepping up the cozy

our bedroom has officially become my summer project. I have never spent much time in my bedroom so it tends to fall to the wayside. It becomes a place to sleep and hide things when we have company over. I would like to make our bedroom pretty {and organized} enough that we could sit in our armchairs and read books or lounge in bed with coffee.

the before:

we FINALLY finished our ikea hack nightstands!

this photo is being bizarre, sorry!

We won't change any of the furniture in there as of right now (perhaps a DIY upholstered headboard?!) . We are trying to hold out on furniture until our next move. I have a really pretty dresser but Craig needs a bigger one! It is kind of blah, we have big walls with no art, besides the three pictures I hastily hung up when we moved in and our bedding should have never been shared with a dog that needs as many baths as a five year old boy.

I still am on the fence about the duvet (why don't they have grey instead of taupe?!)  but I now have my heart set on polka dots. I also need another piece of art to replace those silly small ones. What do you think? Grey Duvet suggestions anyone?!

  1. For your Duvet, take a look at IKEA. I went last weekend and they had everything from bold, colorful and fun to very elegant and neutral. Garnet Hill has a number of great selections too. The range is the same as IKEA, but the price point a bit higher (although there is currently a sale on.)

  2. Love what you have going on here. I've been trying to refresh our room for the longest time and can't settle on what exactly would be best! I've searched long and hard for a good duvet and had some luck with Target's new line Threshold (!), Pottery Barn, and then other sites online here and there. Good luck!

    1. LOVE threshold. target has become so dangerous lately, so many good things. Bedrooms are so hard, my husband and I can never agree
