london,england: day one

We were in London for 7 days so we now consider ourselves experts on tourist attractions in the city. On our first day we did the NewEurope tour to get acquainted with the city. These tours are awesome, they are free and you pay based on how well the tour guide did/how much you can afford. This is great for a couple of reasons 1) The tour guides are great. They are animated and work really hard to keep you interested 2) You aren't shelling out tons of money to go on a three hour tour that you may hate 3) you usually get young, local students who do this as a part time job, not an old guy who really could care less.

Luckily our tour ran around the same time as the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and we had a chance to see the band. Did you know one of the bands plays more contemporary  music? I can imagine Queen Elizabeth (we started calling her liz) dancing inside the palace.

The rest of the day was spent at the Churchill War Rooms, which I highly recommend. The first part is the underground War Department that the war was run from; it has been left exactly the same since it's closing at the end of the war. The second part it a museum dedicated to Churchill and his life. It is one of the best museums I have seen for all ages, not to mention Churchill is on my list of greatest 20th century heroes and he is fascinating!

Dinner that night was at Woodlands, a vegetarian Indian restaurant. Craig didn't realize until we were ordering that there was no meat involved in his dinner, he was a sad boy. But I highly recommend it!

P.S. Kate Spade is having a sample sale until midnight!
