Craig and I decided tonight that we are going to go to San Francisco for New Years! We haven't gone on a trip in nearly a year
(Europe was the last!) and we were starting to get the itch. We also don't know when Craig will have another chance, so we decided what the hell. I am a planner, I would prefer to know months in advance to make sure everything is perfect, whereas Craig is more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of guy. We booked tickets to Europe exactly a week before leaving if that gives you an idea.
San Francisco but more importantly California has been on my wanderlust list for quite awhile. I am bouncing out of my seat excited
(after I carefully budgeted out the trip, including a stipend for Zara)
Anyone out there have any tips for us? Places to see and/or eat. I would LOVE to hear!
Sounds like a blast! I"m a total planner too but hopefully you can enjoy anyways. We love San Fran but haven't been in a long time so no recommendations just have fun! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am showing my husband this! He thinks I am crazy that I need to plan everything, it makes me less stressed. Everyone says they love it, it will be my first time in California, sooooo excited :)
DeleteYou picked the best city to visit! I just recently moved back here. Here are my quick fans, feel free to email me with questions, etc. ENJOY every minute!
ReplyDelete- Walk through the Ferry Building (filled with restaurants, gifts, wine, etc)
- Shop on Union & Chestnut Streets in Cow Hollow/Marina (both are walkable to one another)
- Bike the Bridge (if the weather cooperates)
- Visit Napa if you leave the city (I have TONS of recs)
- Ride the cable car from Fisherman's Wharf to Union Square
- Most importantly, drink a lot of wine :)
xx-

don't you hate when that happens, I spent all of Saturday morning looking through pictures of Europe. I am glad my husband pushes these trips, he makes sure that we go!
DeleteI SO have the same itch! Jealous! Please have some dim sum for me!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh! that sounds so so good for a lunch. Thanks!
DeleteBe sure to visit the farmer's market at the ferry building if you are there on a Saturday! It is a huge market and everything is so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteCheck out Cupid's Span, which is a short walk from the ferry building on the Embarcadero. It's a giant bow and arrow statue in the ground.
See the Painted Ladies. (i.e. "Full House" houses)
Make sure to see Golden Gate Park, especially the Conservatory of Flowers.
Coit Tower.
Bike or walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. If you can, go up into the Headlands on the other side of the bridge. The views are absolutely BREATHTAKING.
Take a ferry ride to or from Sausalito.
Have SO much fun! :)
Thank you for all the places to visit! I need to map everything out now, so much to see!
Deletemy home and favorite place in the world!! have so much fun! i have a list of sf stuff on my blog if you want to have a look. lots of restaurants.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the San Fran stuff yet but I did go to your blog and I am soooo jealous you are in Europe! I need to go back and live vicariously through your pictures
DeleteI do like the Union Square Zara. I also like the Macy's on the other side of the square. A tip - the men's clothing is in a separate building. Seeing all the male tourists standing in the lobby looking confused is sweet. I always point them in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I am insanely excited to go!
